IMPORTANT: Default chat will no longer be on Wikia

Well hombres, that day we have all dreaded has finally come. We can no longer use Wikia chat and remain productive.

Due to severe lag and connection issues plaguing us (mostly me and Pyrrhomaniac) over the past few weeks, we have come to the conclusion in this most recent chat that we might as well go ahead and make the permanent move to Skype.

This isn't in effect immediately, of course. It just is when we're all settled in skype. We'll continue using either wikia or Gdoc until then.

Let's face it. We all knew this was coming, we just didn't want it to come this soon. Let us now reflect, for another era of FORUM history has come and gone.

Technically its called "private chat" and its even better than PMs since it will also record the chat history for that as well.

But I feel like we should open up a new chat page. Mine keeps refusing to load and I have to exit skype and enter in again.

Really? Does not sound like a problem with the chat, moreso with your skype. Try troubleshooting or something. Who knows. It is a good deal more complicated than the chat wikia uses, which runs on flash.

If you think the chat history is causing loading issues, its unlikely since Skype usually hides the older history and only loads it when you explicitly get it to do so.

Yes. At either the top or bottom of the text is says 'show [today] [yesterday] [last week] [last 3 weeks] [last 6 months] etc.

I don't see anything like that, it may just be a problem cause of Windows 8.

Did you check the Skype FAQs? Perhaps its a settings thing?

I'm sure it's just a windows 8 problem, although it seems to have gone now.

Interesting. Well, let's hope it stays away.
