Character Naming

It has come to my attention that a few of our characters, while having meaning behind them, do not correspond to RWBY's naming convention, with very few of them having a connection to color. Therefore we should look at the names and see if we can do anything about it (expansion, middle name [limited use], renaming, etc.).

Here is the naming conventions

Well I think at least a large majority of our characters should have names that go by this system. Sure it will limit the choice of names, but our story doesn't feel too "RWBY-styled" at the moment, and this will probably help with that issue. Even with the limitations, Monty has said that usage of different languages is perfectly okay, and the requirements are quite vague, giving us quite a bit of flexibility.

I think we can work around it, TBH. For example, a lot of our characters without color motifs also do not have surnames. That can be alleviated easily by using color-related surnames. For example, Pyrrhon Flint.

But I was talking with WoW on how we can't rely too much on Middle names and surnames. It would be weird to see a bunch of people who only have a color name as their middle name

Angren Green Ture

William Orange Conrad

Brise Beige Tennnebrum

Now it won't be that blatant but you see my point.

Well, it obviously wound't work for anyone. I only propose implementing it for characters currently without surnames, and then the color-based name being rather subtle, usually with an additional connotation. For example, a name like Blacktyde (best I could come up with for now). In addition to the obligatory color drop, there's also an ocean connection, and "Black Tide" might be used for a pirate or raider or something.

I think we should avoid middle names completely and just change the existing names to fit the system. We may not have to change all the names, but I definately think most of the characters should adhere by the naming system.

True, but there could be people who would have to be renamed, but those are few (apparently we are already really good at naming them) but we also have to modify the villains' names.

I don't really see an issue with that as we haven't had any of the Chapters drawn out yet, so there shouldn't an issue with renaming characters.

That, and most of the villains are referred to by their title anyways, and those that aren't, we can just change the last names (because I don't really like most of them anyway).

I feel like changing last names should only be done if the first name can't be changed, so that if we choose to introduce a new character from the same family, it wouldn't complicate things. But at the end of the day, I don't really mind either way.

Careful here, we're venturing into plot territory
